This is the story of what a Woman's patience can endure, and what a Man's resolution can achieve.

Das Buch lässt sich für einen Klassiker ziemlich flüssig lesen und man kommt auch schnell in die Geschichte rein und möchte wissen wer die mysteriöse Frau in weiß ist. Dabei schafft der Autor es die Spannung immer weiter vorranzutreiben und obwohl das Buch so dick ist und ich erwartet habe, dass es Längen geben wird, hatte ich keinen einizigen Moment, bei de ich es weglegen wollte. Ich finde es faszinierend wie man den Fall aus der Sicht verschiedener Menschen kennenlernt, die alle aus ihrer Sicht etwas anderes erzählen und man so nicht weiß wem man trauen kann. Das macht das Buch noch spannender. Es ist auf jeden Fall ein erstklassiger Krimi, der mit den modernen Krimis von Heute auf jeden Fall mithalten kann. Und durch die Zeit und den Schreibstil hat man hier noch eine wundervolle düstere Stimmung, die das Buch einfach toll macht.

... to presume ever again an old story won't be able to capture my attention. Honestly, this one made me sit on the edge of my seat - oh the suspense!
