First You Write a Sentence. The Elements of Reading, Writing ... and Life.

A sympathetic book with which the author doesn’t so much want to prescribe, how to write well, but more with which he wants to provide guidelines to write well. Guidelines one can use to make the reading of a book easier for a reader. He points out, that the basis of good readability is a well-formed sentence. That is the essential part and main connection to speaking (and in that way the connection to listening and - in case of a book - reading). After having dealt with the sentence as such, the author explains several other important facts of optimizing the readability, the use of long and short words, long and short sentences, the paragraph, and all of this from a historical point of view. Too much to mention and therefore, I think, ‘First you write a sentence’ is not only a practical adviser for any writer, but also a book you can read more than just once.
