Nina Hill lives a rather organized life, enjoys trivia nights at the pub, loves her work as a bookseller and due to a proneness to anxiety keeps largely to herself otherwise. But when she learns that she's not an only child as she was led to believe, but actually part of a rather large family, she's forced to come out of her bookish bubble. On top of that she also falls for the head of one of the opposing trivia teams. But does she even have time to date or rather does she want to? I enjoyed "The Bookish Life of Nina Hill" quite a lot. Since I am in some respects not unlike the novel's protagonist, it was very easy for me to relate to her. I love how fun the story is, how witty and loveable most of the characters are and how uplifting the book is as a whole. I also appreciate that Waxman doesn't just focus on either love or friendship of family or character growth, but incorporates each of those topics in almost equal measure. Towards the end I had the impression that the story got increasingly clichéd, but to an extent that didn't take away from the overall reading experience. If you are looking for a romantic novel with a well-rounded and authentic story and great characters, "The Bookish Life of Nina Hill" should definitely be on top of your TBR-list.
