The Last Astronaut Shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award

Okay, that was pretty much as terrifying as I feared it would be. B ut in a good way!! The last Astronaut was so good! Extremely well paced, skipping all the „boring“ parts while still being scientifically sound and explaining on page. I loved the characters, each one of them! Which is rare and surprised me more than you. The alien threat in this book seems very real. I was amazed at how David Wellington played it out and very much like the overall idea. The ending was no let down either. Also, let me tell you (I have not read anything from Wellington before) that man knows how to plot a knockout character arc. Like, damn, I... I read this book in such a hurry because I felt like tumbling down an abysss with this characters and i wanted to - needed too - see it to the end. Talking about successfully suspending my disbelief! Well done. As a writer I see a character arc used solely to further the plot of the main character from a mile away and it mostly ruins it for me. But this. Was. Ein unglaublich spannendes Sci-Fi-Buch mit Horror-Elementen. Man weiß nie, was als Nächstes passiert. Dinge, die man erwartet, gehen doch nicht auf. Die Personen im Buch sind sehr gut ausgearbeitet. Die Erklärungen über Wissenschaft und Technik sind im genau richtigen Maße eingearbeitet. Man merkt, dass der Autor sich viel Zeit und Mühe gemacht hat, um alles zu recherchieren und auszuarbeiten.
