Ensayo del año 2018 en eltema Bibliotecología, ciencia de la información / documentación, Nota: ninguna, , Idioma: Español, Resumen: El presente ensayo académico aborda algunos elementos inherentes al estado internacional actual de las bibliotecas universitarias, en especial de aquellas pertenecientes a las Instituciones de Nivel Superior, enmarcadas en las ciencias médicas o de la salud en general; su constante diversificación y los servicios que ofrecen. Con el objetivo de mejorar el conocimiento del usuario promedio, se contemplan con conjunto de elementos básicos que definen a las bibliotecas como sitios de acceso a la información, con énfasis en las bibliotecas médicas y los factores que la diferencian del resto. Una atención especial recibe, en el presente ensayo, los servicios bibliotecarios desde sus más actuales conceptos y definiciones (teniendo en cuenta los más tradicionales), así como la diversificación de materiales y soportes de información con los que deben familiarizarse tanto especialistas como usuarios. Es abordada la sostenida tendencia que constituye la pluralidad de usuarios especialistas de las más diversas ramas del saber que procuran servicios bibliotecarios en búsqueda de información científica, la mayoría médicos; las razones que soportan estas tendencias actuales quedan abordadas aunque no exhaustivamente, toda vez que este es un proceso en constante evolución que incluye al correo electrónico como un agente más, disponible desde los puntos de presencia que aportan las bibliotecas híbridas y que se comporta como un factor facilitador del intercambio de información de los profesionales con sus tutores y otros especialistas.
This academic essay deals with some elements inherent to the current international status of university libraries, especially those belonging to Higher Level Institutions, framed in the medical sciences or health in general; their constant diversification and the services they offer. With the aim of improving the knowledge of the average user, they are considered with a set of basic elements that define libraries as access sites to information, with emphasis on medical libraries and the factors that differentiate it from the rest. Special attention is given, in the present essay, to library services from their most current concepts and definitions (taking into account the most traditional ones), as well as the diversification of materials and information supports with which both specialists and users must become familiar. It is approached the sustained tendency that constitutes the plurality of specialized users that seek library services
