Dr. Christian Abegglen, President of the St. Gallen Business School
“In the second machine age we need to make sure that experiential learning and tacit knowledge become better engrained in our education system. The "dual system" as lived in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, which entails vocational training for experience-based skills, will become an essential tool to counterbalance the job loss of tasks built on algorithmic knowledge. This book provides formidable insights into the opportunities and challenges of vocational training.”
Prof. Dr. Antoinette Weibel, University of St. Gallen
"This is one of the most comprehensive books on vocational training. A must read for all those who want guidance on how to introduce, strengthen or modernize vocational training in order to help young people in the transition from school to work."
Jun.-Prof. Dr. Melanie Arntz, Centre for European Economic Research, Mannheim
“The dual vocational training system is without a doubt a German success model and guarantor for the strength of the German economy. It combines both practical learning within a company and theoretical learning at vocational school. This book describes the strengths of the model and encourages professionals in other countries to use it to their advantage. I hope the book and the users of the dual vocational training system in other countries are successful!”
Prof. Dr. Stephan Fischer, Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences
