first book of three atypical women

Sonja aus Freiburg am 16.10.2022

Bewertungsnummer: 1806016

Bewertet: eBook (ePUB)

Nikole has been dating an actor for 5 months and at a Dodgers baseball game, he proposes to her on the scoreboard. The problem, she doesn't particularly like Fisher and he misspelled her name. So she says no, he leaves, a film crew comes from the stadium, but before she can be interviewed, she is saved by Carlos and his sister. Out of gratitude she invites the two of them for a drink which Carlos then pays for so she contacts him by e-mail. Her friends advise her to use it as a rebound. Carlos doesn't have time for relationships because his family needs him right now. Even though his father died 5 years ago, he still feels responsible for his family and tries to replace him. Therefore, the friendship/affair with Nik is just right for him. But what if feelings come into play? The two alternate with the stories, so we get to know both of them and see the development. The language is cheeky and the style demanding. The course of the relationship is probably the classic one in an American partnership and although one or the other cliché is used, it was not annoying. What I find a bit of a pity is that the problems of skin color were only briefly addressed, however, I loved that it did not matter. She's black, he's Hispanic, so what? Reese Witherspoon is right – nice entertainment.
