Lockwoods storytelling got me from page one and it instantly made me switch from reading to just being right there and living the story. This feeling is exactly why I love reading so much. And while reading a lot there’s only a few books that synchronise so well with my own imagination. “The Summerdragon” is written by someone who loves dragons and you can feel that while reading. Lockwood also did some illustrations that add even more details to his story. Maia is a young woman of action rather than of words and it fits her character. There is little time for her to hold epic speeches and I imagine talking alone would get her more in trouble than help her. She has quite a lot to endure and while she’s strong it also shows that she can’t just shrug it off like nothing. Which I liked a lot about her since that made her realistic and human. Keirr is wonderful. She’s a dragon everyone who ever dreamed about dragons would love to have. This is the first part of Maia and Keirrs journey and I can’t wait for the next book (though sadly there doesn’t seem to be a release date or any information about the second book at all).
