Moonlight Sins A de Vincent Novel

The perfect blend between suspence, creepiness and romance. First of all do not read this book in the dark, in the middle of the night. Especially not when your house is over a 100 years old and makes weird noises that you can´t place cause you will be too freaked out to sleep. At first I was a bit confused and intrigued at what was going on and then I got really freaked out about what was happening and that is a hard thing to do for me because I don´t scare easily. And this didn´t get better during the book. I couldn´t figure out what was going on or what the plot twist would be, which is another thing that rarely happens to me but I just didn´t have a clue and was caught totally off guard by how it turned out. Basically the last 20% had me sitting there with my mouth open saying "whaaaat?" cause I was so shocked by the events. The story is written so great and mysterious that it catches your attention from page one even though you don´t know anything about the storyline. It was written in such a way that it kept me on my toes the whole time and I just couldn´t put the book down until I knew how it would end, I just had to know what was really going on. Plus there are so many hilarious and romantic moments that you totally forget how creeped out you were a moment ago. Then we have the characters. You don´t really have much information about any of them in the beginning but they are written so good that you still bond with them and realte to them. Lucian is basically my spirit animal. He has the ability to make everything sound dirty just like I do, so I instantly bonded with him. Also his character development from player to super sweet guy is basically the poster child for how character development is supposed to be. Julia is basically a total badass who isn´t scared of anything and takes all the weird stuff happening in stride. Also she doesn´t take any shit from Lucian or his brothers and is just overall awesome. The relationship between Julia and Lucian is also so epic especially cause they actually talk to eachother and act like adults. It is so much fun to see how their feelings develop and they get together. All in all this book makes you feel completely creeped out at times and you think that the they should really get their house checked out not only by the ghost busters but also by the Winchester brothers. But at the same time you will laugh a lot and get all the cutesy feelings from Julia and Lucian. So don´t be put off by the scary parts, they just make the book that much more fun and intriguing.

3,5 stars I must admit, immediately after reading I was sort of on the fence about this book but now almost a week has passed and I keep catching my mind wandering to this book and characters and I am kind of itching to re-read this. This book was gloriously creepy at times and it felt very different from Armentrout's other books. The setting in this seemingly haunted mansion was so cool. The de Vincent brothers sure are a handful, what the hell is up with Devlin? He gives me the chills but is also mysterious and interesting at the same time, I definitely want a book from his point of view. Lucian and Julia's banter was funny and entertaining but their chemistry was lacking. The ending and big reveal also left me unsatisfied. That was too convoluted and far fetched for me, it seemed utterly ridiculous. After all the suspense and build-up the reveal was quite disappointing. I am eager, though, for the sequel.
