Kate lebt sehr zurück gezogen und hat eine Aura von Unnahbarkeit. Niemand hat Kontakt zu der jungen Frau, die neu in den Küstenort Southport gezogen ist. Jedoch gelingt es dem gutaussehenden Witwer Alex mit seinen zwei Kindern, die neue Nachbarin etwas aufblühen zu lassen. Ganz zart wächst ein Band zwischen diesen Menschen. Doch Kate ist nicht die, die Alex zu kennen scheint. Wird ihre Liebe den Sturm überstehen, den das wohlbehütete Geheimnis von Kate, auslöst?
