Strange the Dreamer the magical, masterfully-imaginative YA fantasy sensation from the bestselling author of Daughter of Smoke and Bone

4,5 I don't know why it took me so loooong to finish it, maybe becaue it's a really slow-paced book but it's probably one of the most unique stories I have ever read . My struggle was in picking up the book but everytime I did I was so involved in the story and the beautiful flowery writing . I LOVED the characters immensely. Lazlo and Sarai are my new favorite characters . They are different from traditional protagonist. They are kind, cute and humble. And overall good and hopeful people. I love them with my whole heart. The way they fall in love is truly unique and the dreaming aspect of the story was one of my favorite parts. I also enjoyed reading about the side-characters like Eril-Fane! , Azareen, Thyon and Ruza. I enjoyed the interaction between Thyon and Lazlo and how it changes thoughout the book. The only thing I couldn't wrap my mind around was the world-building until I saw some amazing fanarts that made the imagination much easier.I am excited for the sequel. I also appreciate that it didn't end with a mean cliffhanger rather a satisfying one that doesn't leave you frustrated.

This book is one of the best young adult novels I have ever read. No boring cliches, a close to unpredictable plot, and characters that feel very human. The love story is one of the books strong points. Sarai and Lazlo do not fall in love with each other because of arbitrary reasons like good looks or a mysterious personality. They love each other for who they are. Additionally, Their love story starts very early compared with other YA couples. Not only the two main characters are interesting and relatable. The supporting characters are fleshed out to point where almost all of them are relevant to the story. They are not simply there to nudge the protagonists into the right direction to advance the story, but are interested in solving the mystery of Weep out of their own volition. Furthermore, there is neither too little nor to much backstory. We are told enough about Weep and its past to feel for its inhabitants without overexplaining it. The same goes for almost every character. The reader is only told what they need to know, leaving the rest to imagination. These points make for an amazing story that feels almost too real. Laini Taylor is an amazing author. Through her great storytelling and mesmerizing writing style she is able to draw the reader into her fantastical world full of love, grief and the hope of peace.

3 1/2 Sterne Strange the Dreamer - Der Junge der träumte - Buch 1 stand sehr lange auf meiner Wunschliste bis ich es mir heuer im Jänner endlich geholt habe Das Buch ist in 3 Teile eingeteilt In Teil 1 lernen wir Lazlo Strange kennen und erleben wie er als Waisenkind im Königreich Zosma aufwächst und sich auf die Suche nach dem sagenumwobenen Weep begibt Teil 2 beginnt wie ein völliger Neustart und es braucht eine Weile bis sich schön langsam erschließt wie alles zusammen hängen könnte - zumindest ging es mir so … Ich muss zugeben dass ich am Anfang ziemlich verwirrt war - so viele neue Wesen - die neue Welt - die auf den ersten Blick völlig unzusammen- hängende Handlunsstränge aber dann wurde es besser - klarer - verständlicher und ich bin endlich im Buch angekommen ich bin schon gespannt wie es in Buch 2 weitergeht was ich mir auf jeden Fall gewünscht hätte war eine Karte der neuen Welt - das hätte mir zumindest am Anfang auf jeden Fall geholfen mich zurecht zu finden

Ich hatte mir das Buch gekauft, nachdem es auf YouTube ziemlich gehypt wurde. Leider ist es jedoch einfach wie für Kinder geschrieben und nicht spannend. Ab Mitte des zweiten Buches musste ich aufhören, weil ich sonst vor Langeweile gestorben wäre.
