The sexy rancher Caleb Johnson starts every day with a visit to Allie's bakery, but although she tries her best to attract them, nothing ever comes of it. But then she is attacked by a wolf on her way home, saved by another wolf and led to safety by Caleb's voice in her head. As it turns out, he's a vampire who can shapeshift, as are his three brothers. Soon Allie is one, too, but her transformation doesn't go as it should and due to the resulting problems and her quest for answers, the Johnson brothers and their werewolf-allies are soon in serious trouble with a vampire-sect and the werewolf-clan that originally attacked Allie...
This is mostly a good book but sometimes drags a bit. Generally I had the impression that McCarty stuffed a lot of things into it to start off her series and that there were quite a few things that lacked depth or explanations as a result. But it was still good and interesting enough that I will continue reading the series.
