This book changed my view on Alice in Wonderland and made me love the Queen of Hearts. Catherine Pinkerton is a young noble lady whose lifelong dream it is to open her own bakery. Even the King of Hearts is captured by her beauty and her pastries. Cath’s situation is complicated as her mother wishes nothing more than for her to become the Queen but she knows being a queen meant giving up her dream. But not only that her world turns upside down when she meets Jest - the King’s newly appointed court joker - and feels the pulls of attraction like she never felt before. ‘Heartless’ is a story of how Catherine came to be the Queen of Hearts and how she lost her own in the process.

Warum ist die rote Königin aus Alice im Wunderland so grausam geworden? Skurril, verrückt und so wie man es kennt und liebt. Die Liebesgeschichte war herzerreißend und brutal und irgendwie kann ich die rote Königin nach "Heartless" auch verstehen. Eine 100/10!!!!

I loved this book.

I love Alice in Wonderland and especially the Queen of Hearts, and getting to read about her life and her story of becoming the heartless queen we all know her for is just amazing. This book had me in a chokehold and crying for weeks with no end in sight. I can only recommend this book to everyone, even if you have never read the original story. I'm sure you'll still love this story. So please have a cozy blanket and a big pack of tissues ready, it WILL get emotional.
