Not to be easily forgotten, very original and manilayered. Literary novel gimmick meets social commentary meets minimalistically sketched protagonists that you still end up feeling like you‘re reading their mail.
Literarisches Meisterwerk!

Mark Dunn ist mit diesem Buch wirklich eine literarische lipogrammatische Meisterleistung gelungen. Auch wenn mich persönlich die Story nicht gepackt hat, hat der Autor es regelmäßig geschafft mich mit Witzen, Wortspielen oder Wortneuschöpfungen abzuholen. Die Briefe zwischen den Bewohnern der kleinen autonomen Insel Nollop sind sehr authentisch und geben Einblick in den persönlichen Alltag der Figuren und sind nie langweilig! Trotzdem finde ich, ist die tiefe der Story etwas zu kurz gekommen.
Mein Fazit ist daher: Ich habe dieses Buch wirklich genossen, und ich würde es jedem ans Herz legen, der mit ähnlich viel Spaß und Begeisterung an Literatur herangehen kann. Die Handlung bildet eindeutig den Schwachpunkt bei diesem Roman, doch mir hat es nichts ausgemacht, da es nur wenige Seiten hat. Mein primärer Lesegrund ist, dass dieses Buch zunehmend lipogrammatisch geschrieben ist. Ich würde es daher empfehlen an Sprachbegeisterte, die gut mit der Englischen Sprache umgehen können, da hier einige Wörter verwendet werden, die fernab vom regulären Sprachgebrauch sind!
Alles in allem lesenswert mit besonderem Augenmerk auf den Schreibstil!
