The last few decades have seen a flurry of activity in the synthesis and development of 8-hydroxy-quinoline (8HQ) derivative. Various strategies can be envisaged to synthesize or modify 8HQ structures by exploiting the reactivity of this heterocycle with their derivatives by various researchers. 8-hydroxyquinoline and its derivatives were also reported to have promising bioactivities, including anticancer, antibacterial, antidyslipidemic and antioxidative properties, vasorelaxing properties, antivirus and antiplatelet activities.
