This new case may start and end with a Sycamore tree, but this story offers way more than the cover and text reveal. As in A Time to Kill, Jake Brigance is back in the courtroom and faces a controversial case. Which might slowly develop into his speciality. As if the case in itself isn’t difficult enough, he also has to deal with the racial tension, which is deeply rooted in the history of Ford County.
I’m very fond of this main protagonist, a most engaging character that doesn’t shy back.
