Bipolaris sorokiniana (Sacc.) Shoemaker (Syn. Helminthosporium sativum, telomorph: Cochliobolus sativus), a hemibiotrophic phytopathogenic fungus is a well known cause of spot blotch disease in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).
