Das ist das zweite Buch, das ich von Elif Shafak lese. Die Erzählung ist in zwei Zeitstränge unterteilt und die Kapitel werden abwechselnd aus der Sicht von verschiedenen Charakteren erzählt. Ich liebte die Erzählung von Rumi und Shams. Ihre Freundschaft und die mystischen Elemente wurden gut zum Vorschein gebracht. Mit der Geschichte im gegenwärtigen Zeitstrang konnte ich nicht allzu viel anfangen, diese nimmt im Vergleich jedoch eine untergeordnete Rolle ein und ist trotzdem gut mit dem Rest der Erzählung abgestimmt. Es war insgesamt sehr schön zu lesen und trieb zum Nachdenken an.
