Romantic? Yes- Even If Fidelity Is Viewed As A Foreign Concept

Beautifully written, deeply emotional, breathtakingly romantic—and at the same time, one massive cheating fest. Let’s get one thing straight: Jojo Moyes knows how to write a love story. The Last Letter from Your Lover is that slow, aching, longing kind of romance that tears you up inside. The characters feel real—raw, human, flawed—caught in lives that offer no easy answers, only heartbreak and choices that never feel quite right. The dual timelines? Beautifully woven. The letters? Utterly swoon-worthy. The atmosphere? Perfectly melancholic. I felt every single line. BUT!!! And I honestly can’t stress this enough… Why is everyone cheating on everyone in this book?! Seriously, it felt like a game of who’s sleeping with whom while still engaged/married/tangled with someone else. And yes, I get that Moyes wanted to show the emotional complexity of relationships—but still?! Half the time I was thinking, “Has no one in this book ever heard of communication?” That alone cost it a star. I’m not a fan of glorified affairs—it’s just not my thing. That said… I loved the story. I felt for the characters. I was emotionally destroyed and morally conflicted at the same time. This book lingers. It stays with you. It shows how love can be messy, painful, imperfect—and yet still incredibly beautiful. If you can handle a bit of moral chaos, you’ll get a deeply moving, exquisitely written love story that won’t let you go.
