""Richard The First V1: A Poem, In Eighteen Books"" is a literary work written by James Bland Burges in 1801. The book is a poetic retelling of the life and reign of King Richard I of England, also known as Richard the Lionheart. The narrative is divided into eighteen books, each focusing on a particular aspect of Richard's life, including his crusades, battles, and relationships with his family and courtiers. The book is written in a grand and epic style, with vivid descriptions of battles and landscapes, and rich characterizations of historical figures such as Richard's mother, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, and his rival, King Philip II of France. Burges's work is a tribute to Richard's bravery and heroism, and a celebration of medieval chivalry and courtly romance. Overall, ""Richard The First V1: A Poem, In Eighteen Books"" is a fascinating glimpse into the medieval world of knights and kings, and a must-read for lovers of historical poetry and literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
