Mit Omen wird die Fate of the Jedi Reihe konsequent im neuen Stil fortgesetzt. Auch der zweite Band konzentriert sich auf wenige Charaktere und verzichtet auf die Massenszenen, die man aus der Legacy Serie kennt. Die Handlung setzt nahtlos an Outcast an. Luke und Ben Skywalker sind weiterhin unterwegs auf den Spuren von Jacen Solo, während Leia und Han zurück auf Coruscant sind, wo sich ihr Handlungsstrang mit dem von Jaina rund um dem Konflikt zwischen Jedi Orden und Galaktischer Allianz vereint. Als dritter Handlungsstrang kommen dann die Sith dazu, deren Ursprünge in der Lost Tribe of the Sith eBook Serie eingeführt wurden.
Besonders die Rückkehr der Sith in großem Maßstab auf die Bühne des Expanded Universe fällt sehr gelungen und stimmig aus. Man muß die o.g. LTotS Reihe dafür nicht kennen, da es sich dabei aber um kostenlose eBooks handelt, empfiehlt es sich, die Bände vorher zu lesen. Des weiteren gibt es gegen Ende des Romans ein Ereignis auf Coruscant, auf das viele Leser wohl schon seit langem gewartet haben. Mehr sei hier aber nicht verraten, um die Spannung nicht zu verderben.
Lediglich die Länge des Romans fällt etwas knapp aus. Da hätte man sich für ein Hardcover etwas mehr gewünscht, aber zum einen kann man ja auf das Paperback warten und zum anderen hätte die Autorin schon mit Gewalt die Geschichte in die Länge ziehen müssen, was der Qualität geschadet hätte. Alles in allem handelt es sich um einen runden zweiten Band der FotJ Reihe, der die solide Qualität des ersten Bandes hält und Lust auf mehr macht.
Wie schon der ersten Band, dürfte Omen eine geteilte Meinung hervorrufen, da der Stil sich doch im Vergleich zur Legacy und NJO Reihe deutlich verändert hat. Mir gefällt das bisher sehr gut, andere mag das eher abschrecken. Ich gebe Omen sehr gute vier Sterne und empfehle die FotJ Serie sehr.
