The History of Education in Connecticut, written by Bernard Christian Steiner in 1893, is a comprehensive account of the development of education in the state of Connecticut. The book covers the period from the earliest colonial settlements in the 17th century up to the late 19th century, providing a detailed overview of the various educational institutions, policies, and practices that have shaped the state's educational landscape over time.Steiner begins by examining the early efforts to establish schools in Connecticut, including the founding of the first public school in the American colonies in 1635. He then goes on to explore the establishment of colleges and universities, such as Yale and Wesleyan, and the evolution of the state's public school system.Throughout the book, Steiner provides insights into the social, political, and economic forces that influenced the development of education in Connecticut. He also discusses the various challenges and controversies that arose over the years, including debates over the role of religion in education, the emergence of new educational philosophies and methods, and the struggle for greater educational access and equity.Overall, The History of Education in Connecticut is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of American education, as well as for those interested in the unique educational traditions and practices of the state of Connecticut. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
