Psalms, Hymns and Anthems is a collection of religious music compiled and published in 1774 by the London Foundling Hospital. The book contains a wide range of musical pieces, including psalms from the Old Testament, traditional hymns, and anthems composed specifically for the Foundling Hospital. The collection is designed for use in Christian worship services and includes music for various occasions, such as weddings and funerals. The book also includes a preface outlining the history and mission of the Foundling Hospital, which was established in the mid-18th century to provide care for abandoned and orphaned children. Overall, Psalms, Hymns and Anthems offers a glimpse into the musical traditions of the Foundling Hospital and the broader Christian community in 18th century England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
