The Anglo-Saxon Poems of Beowulf: The Traveler's Song and The Battle of Finnesburh is a book written by John Mitchell Kemble and originally published in 1835. The book is a collection of two Anglo-Saxon poems, namely The Traveler's Song and The Battle of Finnesburh, both of which are considered to be important works of Old English literature. The Traveler's Song is a poem that describes a journey taken by a group of warriors. The poem is believed to have been composed in the 7th century and is notable for its vivid descriptions of the landscape and the characters encountered along the way.The Battle of Finnesburh, on the other hand, is a fragmentary poem that describes a battle between two groups of warriors. The poem is believed to have been composed in the 8th century and is notable for its vivid descriptions of the battle and the heroic deeds of the warriors involved.Kemble's book provides a translation of both poems into modern English, as well as a detailed introduction that provides historical and literary context for the works. The book is considered to be an important contribution to the study of Old English literature and is still widely read and studied today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
