The Life of Francis Bacon, Lord Chancellor of England is a biographical work written by David Mallet and originally published in 1740. The book chronicles the life and achievements of Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, statesman, and lawyer who served as Lord Chancellor of England during the reign of King James I. Mallet's biography explores Bacon's early life, education, and rise to prominence as a legal scholar and political figure. The book also delves into Bacon's philosophical ideas, including his contributions to the scientific method and his belief in the importance of empirical observation and experimentation. Throughout the book, Mallet provides a detailed account of Bacon's personal and professional life, including his relationships with family members, friends, and colleagues. He also examines the various controversies and scandals that surrounded Bacon during his lifetime, including his impeachment for corruption in 1621. Overall, The Life of Francis Bacon, Lord Chancellor of England offers a comprehensive and engaging portrait of one of the most important figures in English history. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Bacon's life and legacy, as well as the political and intellectual climate of early modern England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
