""Climbing and Exploration in the Karakoram-Himalayas"" is a travelogue written by William Martin Conway, first published in 1894. The book is a detailed account of Conway's exploration and mountaineering expeditions in the Karakoram and Himalayan mountain ranges, spanning the years 1892-1893. The book is divided into three parts, with the first part describing Conway's journey from Europe to India, his preparations for the expedition, and his arrival in the Karakoram. The second part of the book chronicles his mountaineering expeditions, including his ascent of the unclimbed Spantik peak (7,027 meters), which was the highest peak climbed at the time. The third part of the book covers Conway's exploration of the region, including his travels in the Hunza Valley, his encounters with local tribes, and his observations on the flora and fauna of the region.Throughout the book, Conway provides vivid descriptions of the rugged terrain, the challenges of mountaineering at high altitudes, and the thrill of exploration. He also reflects on the cultural and social aspects of the region, including the customs and traditions of the local people. ""Climbing and Exploration in the Karakoram-Himalayas"" is a classic work of mountaineering literature, offering a fascinating glimpse into the early days of Himalayan exploration and the pioneering spirit of the mountaineers who ventured into the unknown. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
