Women Artists In All Ages And Countries is a pioneering work of feminist art history written by Elizabeth Fries Ellet and first published in 1859. The book is a comprehensive survey of women artists throughout history, from ancient times to the mid-19th century. Ellet's aim was to document the achievements of female artists who had been overlooked or marginalized by the male-dominated art world. The book is organized chronologically, with each chapter covering a different era of art history. Ellet discusses the lives and works of numerous female artists, including painters, sculptors, engravers, and embroiderers. She provides extensive biographical information and critical analysis of their work, as well as historical context for their achievements.Ellet's book is notable for its pioneering approach to feminist art history. She was one of the first scholars to recognize the importance of women artists and to argue for their inclusion in the canon of art history. Her work paved the way for later generations of feminist art historians and curators.Overall, Women Artists In All Ages And Countries is an important and influential work of art history that sheds light on the lives and achievements of women artists throughout history. It remains a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of art and the role of women in the arts. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
