""A True Story Of The Western Pacific In 1879-80"" is a non-fiction book written by Hugh Hastings Romilly and published in 1882. The book is a firsthand account of the author's experiences during his time as a British colonial officer in the Western Pacific region during the late 19th century. The book is divided into several chapters, each detailing a different aspect of Romilly's experiences. The first chapter describes his journey to the Western Pacific and his arrival at his post in the Solomon Islands. Subsequent chapters detail his interactions with the local people, including their customs and beliefs, as well as his efforts to establish British colonial authority in the region. Romilly's account also includes descriptions of the natural environment of the Western Pacific, including the flora and fauna, as well as the challenges of navigating the region's many islands and reefs. The book also includes illustrations and photographs that provide a visual representation of the landscapes and people Romilly encountered. Overall, ""A True Story Of The Western Pacific In 1879-80"" provides a valuable historical perspective on British colonialism in the Pacific region, as well as an insight into the experiences of a colonial officer during this period. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
