""Actors and Actresses of Great Britain and the United States: From the Days of David Garrick to the Present Time"" is a comprehensive guide to the most notable performers in the history of theatre. Written by Brander Matthews, an American literary critic and professor of dramatic literature, this book covers the period from the 18th century to the early 20th century, featuring biographical sketches of actors and actresses from both sides of the Atlantic. The book includes famous names like Sarah Siddons, Edmund Kean, Ellen Terry, and Laurence Olivier, as well as lesser-known but equally important figures in the world of theatre. Matthews provides insights into the lives, careers, and achievements of these performers, along with their contributions to the development of theatre as an art form. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of theatre, acting, and performance, and provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential actors and actresses of all time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
