For someone who is in their early 20s I loved the 3 different storys of the women. Heartbreaking and eye opening but I'd say every woman especially in their early 20s should fore sure read it.

this was so beautiful and heartbreaking. 3 stories about 3 women "past their prime" in despair that are going through existential crises. de beauvoir has such a deep understanding of loneliness and losing oneself, she portrays these fractured women with such tender care that you cannot help but see yourself within their suffering. definitely not a light read, elegant yet catastrophic. new fav

Simone de Beauvoir in all her glory. I can't name a single thing she wrote, that I didn't love! With "The Woman Destroyed" she introduces us to three storys, all of them about the crisis' that face us as we get older, but each story intellectually aswell as storytelling-wise unique. All of them putting the woman in the spotlight and exploring the female psyche. She is someone that lives rentfree in my head, not only for her great fictional writings but also for her theoretical writings which profoundly altered the course of events of the second wave of feminist revolutionaries.
