An expedition into unexplored Africa, a revolutionary motion-picture camera, and a powerful searchlight built to guard America's border carry Tom Swift into three adventures filled with invention, mystery, and danger. Whether he is held captive in a remote land, recording wild animals in their natural habitat, or helping government agents pursue smugglers, Tom must rely upon his mechanical genius, courage, and quick thinking to survive. In Tom Swift in Captivity, Tom joins an expedition searching for a legendary race of giants in the African interior. The journey soon becomes a desperate struggle when Tom and his companions are captured and must find a way to escape by airship. Tom Swift and His Wizard Camera follows Tom as he tests a remarkable motion-picture device capable of recording distant and dangerous subjects. His determination to capture extraordinary footage leads him into the wilderness, where fierce animals, hostile rivals, and the hazards of exploration threaten the entire expedition. In Tom Swift and His Great Searchlight, Tom constructs an extraordinarily powerful light that attracts the attention of the United States government. When smugglers begin operating along the border, Tom's invention becomes an essential weapon in the attempt to expose their secret routes and bring them to justice. Combining lost-world adventure, early cinema technology, aerial escape, and crime-fighting invention, Tom Swift Omnibus #5 presents three consecutive volumes from one of the foundational series of American juvenile science fiction.
