WORUM GEHT ES?: Natalie ist eine der Violetten, sie kann durch ein Betrachtermantra tote Seelen rufen und ihnen ihren Körper überlassen und sie mit ihren Schutzmantra wieder aus ihrem Körper ins Nichts befördern. Diese Gabe hat sie in der NAGJK, der Nordamerikanischen Gesellschaft für Jenseitskommunikation, gelernt, welche sie auf Zwang ihres Vaters besuchen musste. Die Gabe nutzt sie deshalb freiberuflich, um letzte Gespräche mit verstorbenen zu ermöglichen oder um ihren toten Freund Dan zu rufen, mit dem sie ein Kind - Callie, ebenfalls eine Violette - hat. Nun soll sie im Hyland-Fall freiberuflich ermitteln, denn es wird vermutet, dass die von einem anderen Violetten herbeigerufenen Seelen vor Gericht eine falsche Aussage machen. Von nun an ermittelt Natalie zusammen mit ihrer guten Freundin und Anwältin Inez und findet heraus, dass die herbeigerufenen Seelen gar nicht geruft werden können. Sie ermittelt mit Inez, was es mit den Falschaussagen auf sich hat, zusätzlich immer darum bemüht, ihre Tochter nicht der NAGJK zu überlassen, welche sie unterrichten und für sich beanspruchen möchte. MEINE MEINUNG: Zunächst finde ich den Titel nicht ganz passend, denn diese Stimmen tauchen nicht nur in der Nacht auf oder werden auch nicht in die Nacht zurückgeschickt. Abgesehen davon fand ich das Buch aber durchaus ansprechend. Es ist detailreich, aber trotzdem sehr interessant geschrieben und man kann sich alle Charaktere bildlich vorstellen. Anfangs ist es noch etwas langweilig, kommt aber in Fahrt, als von Thresher, dem Violettenkiller, die Rede ist und ans Licht kommt, dass diese tote Seele etwas mit den Falschaussagen zu tun hat. Man hat das ganze Buch hinweg immer wieder Vermutungen, was wohl passieren könnte, manchmal bestätigen sie sich, oft ist man aber auch auf dem Holzweg und das steigert die Spannung immer wieder. Allerdings fehlen mir gerade anfangs ein paar Szenen, in welchen Thresher angesprochen wird, denn von ihm liest man erst nach 2/3 des Buches etwas. Für mich also ein ganz guter Thriller, dennoch kein Must-have.
