""An English Paraphrase of Horace's Art of Poetry"" by Abby Osborne Russell is a book that aims to provide a clear and concise interpretation of Horace's famous treatise on poetry. Horace's ""Ars Poetica"" is considered one of the most influential works on literary criticism and has been studied and analyzed by scholars for centuries. However, the text can be difficult to understand for modern readers due to its ancient language and cultural references. Russell's book offers a modern interpretation of Horace's work, using contemporary language and examples to make the text more accessible to a wider audience. The book is divided into sections that correspond to the different topics discussed in Horace's original text, such as the importance of unity in a poem, the use of metaphor, and the role of the poet in society. Throughout the book, Russell provides her own commentary and analysis of Horace's ideas, explaining their relevance to modern poetry and offering her own insights into the craft of writing. The book also includes a glossary of terms and a bibliography for further reading. Overall, ""An English Paraphrase of Horace's Art of Poetry"" is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and theory of poetry, as well as for writers looking to improve their craft. Russell's clear and engaging writing style makes Horace's complex ideas more accessible, while her own commentary adds depth and nuance to the text. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
