""The Diary of Walter Powell of Llantilio, Crossenny in the County of Monmouth, 1603-1654"" is a historical book that presents the personal diary of Walter Powell, a Welshman who lived during the 17th century. The book is a transcription of Powell's diary, which he kept for over fifty years, from 1603 to 1654. The diary provides a unique insight into the life and times of a Welsh yeoman during the turbulent period of the English Civil War and the Commonwealth. Powell's diary covers a wide range of topics, including his family life, his farming activities, his religious beliefs, and his political views. Through his diary, Powell gives us a glimpse into the everyday life of a Welsh family during the 17th century, including their struggles with poverty, illness, and social inequality. He also provides a first-hand account of the impact of the Civil War on his community, including the destruction of local churches and the displacement of families. Overall, ""The Diary of Walter Powell of Llantilio, Crossenny in the County of Monmouth, 1603-1654"" is a fascinating historical document that sheds light on a little-known aspect of Welsh history. It is an essential read for anyone interested in the social, political, and cultural history of Wales during the 17th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
