""Select Remains of the Ancient Popular Poetry of Scotland"" is a book compiled by David Laing, a Scottish antiquary and librarian. The book is a collection of traditional Scottish ballads and songs that were popular among the common people during the medieval and early modern periods. The ballads cover a wide range of themes, including love, war, politics, and supernatural beings. The book includes an introduction by Laing, in which he discusses the history and significance of Scottish balladry, as well as notes on each ballad, providing context and explanation for the reader. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Scottish folklore and traditional music, as well as for scholars of medieval and early modern literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
