Games and Songs of American Children is a comprehensive collection of traditional games and songs played by children in America. Compiled by William Wells Newell, a renowned folklorist and scholar, the book features over 200 games and songs that have been passed down through generations of American children. The games range from simple clapping and counting games to more complex games of strategy and physical skill. The songs include traditional ballads, nursery rhymes, and chants that have been sung by children for centuries. Each game and song is accompanied by detailed instructions and lyrics, making it easy for readers to learn and play along. The book also includes historical notes and commentary on the origins and cultural significance of each game and song. Games and Songs of American Children is a fascinating and valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of American childhood. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
