The Borough is a collection of poems written by George Crabbe, originally published in 1810. The book is divided into twenty-four sections, each one focusing on a different aspect of life in a small English town. Crabbe's poetry is known for its realistic portrayal of everyday life, and The Borough is no exception. The poems cover a wide range of topics, from the struggles of the poor to the excesses of the wealthy, from the joys of love to the pain of loss. Through his vivid descriptions and keen observations, Crabbe brings to life the people and places of the town, painting a picture of a complex and vibrant community. The Borough is a masterpiece of English poetry, and a testament to Crabbe's skill as a writer and his deep understanding of human nature.See! round the room, on every beam and balk, Are mingled scrolls of hieroglyphic chalk; Yet nothing heeded-- would one stroke suffice To blot out all, here honour is too nice,-- ""Let knavish landsmen think such dirty things, We're British tars, and British tars are kings.""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
