""Richard Mansfield the Man and the Actor"" is a book written by Paul Wilstach that provides a detailed account of the life and career of Richard Mansfield, a prominent actor of the late 19th and early 20th century. The book explores Mansfield's childhood, his early years in the theater, and his rise to fame as a leading actor in both America and Europe. It also delves into Mansfield's personal life, including his relationships with family, friends, and fellow actors. Throughout the book, Wilstach provides insights into Mansfield's acting style and techniques, as well as his impact on the theater world of his time. The book is a comprehensive and engaging biography of one of the most influential actors of his era, and is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of the theater.1909. Illustrated. Wilstach, a contemporary of the actor Richard Mansfield, lionizes the man in this study of his life. He writes in the preface: This work was undertaken with the intention of making a permanent record of the events and achievements of Richard Mansfield's life and of presenting through them the personal side of his large and complex character as he revealed it to his intimates. The narrative is based first of all on the confidences of his wife; on my own intimate acquaintance extending over the last ten years of his life; and on unreserved access to all his papers and letters. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
