""Five Little Peppers Midway"" is a novel written by Margaret Sidney. It is a sequel to the popular children's book ""Five Little Peppers and How They Grew"". The story follows the lives of the Pepper family, consisting of five siblings - Ben, Polly, Joel, Davie, and Phronsie - and their widowed mother, Mrs. Pepper. In this book, the family is struggling to make ends meet, with Mrs. Pepper working hard to provide for her children. However, they receive an unexpected invitation from their wealthy friend, Mr. King, to spend the summer at his mansion, Midway. The Peppers are thrilled at the opportunity to experience a life of luxury, but soon realize that they must navigate the complex social hierarchy of the wealthy elite. The story explores themes of class differences, friendship, and the importance of family. As the Peppers navigate their way through unfamiliar territory, they learn valuable lessons about themselves and the world around them. The novel also introduces new characters, including the King family and their friends, who add depth and complexity to the story.Overall, ""Five Little Peppers Midway"" is a heartwarming tale of family, friendship, and the power of perseverance. It is a must-read for fans of the original book and anyone who enjoys classic children's literature.1890. The Five Little Peppers are the fictional creations of Harriett Mulford Stone Lothrop, who wrote about the beloved Pepper family under the pseudonym Margaret Sidney. Her writing career began when she sent her short stories to Wide Awake, a children's magazine published by Daniel Lothrop. Eventually two stories-Polly Pepper's Chicken Pie and Phronsie Pepper's New Shoes-caught the special attention of the editor, who wanted more Pepper stories. The author later married the publisher. The Five Little Peppers Midway is the second of twelve books about the cheerful Pepper clan and in this story even their snooty cousin's coming to stay can't ruin the Pepper children's joy in their mother's wedding.
