The poems are written in a variety of styles, including free verse, rhyming couplets, and haikus. The book also includes illustrations that capture the essence of each state. The Stars of Our Country celebrates the diversity and beauty of the United States, and is a great resource for anyone interested in exploring the country through poetry.1917. A collection of poems by Visscher to which is added President Wilson's Great Message. The well-known poet composed the poems in this volume, one for each State in the Union. A poem for a State and the seal of that State are printed on one page. On the opposite page, facing the poem, appears a picture representing some particular thing, personage of place for which that State is noted. As each State or Territory is famed for numerous and diversified great things, and has its many places of universal interest, as shown in history, the illustrations selected for this work stand forth as being representative.
