""The History of the Rise, Progress and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave Trade by the British Parliament"" is a comprehensive account of the movement to end the slave trade in Great Britain. Written by Thomas Clarkson, a leading abolitionist and campaigner against the slave trade, the book details the history of the trade, the arguments made for and against it, and the efforts of the abolitionist movement to bring about its end.Beginning with the origins of the slave trade in Africa, the book traces its history through the centuries, detailing the brutal treatment of slaves and the economic and political forces that drove the trade. Clarkson then turns to the efforts of abolitionists to end the trade, from early petitions and protests to the eventual passage of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 1807.Throughout the book, Clarkson draws on his own experiences as an abolitionist, including his travels to Africa and his work with other campaigners such as William Wilberforce. He also provides detailed accounts of the debates and discussions that took place in Parliament, as well as the tactics used by both sides in the struggle.""The History of the Rise, Progress and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave Trade by the British Parliament"" is a seminal work in the history of the abolitionist movement, and remains a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of slavery and its eventual abolition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
