Last Wallflower Finds A Husband

Mag aus Berlin am 26.08.2009

Bewertungsnummer: 609811

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

In her wallflower series Lisa Kleypas tells the stories of four young girls, Annabelle, Evangeline, and the American sisters Lillian and Daisy, who band together to find husbands. Three wallflowers were able to secure advantageous and happy marriages, now it is time for the youngest, Daisy Bowman, to do the same - that's what her father, a successful, well to do American businessman, thinks. After three London seasons with no result, he utters an ultimatum: Either Daisy finds a suitable husband till May, or she has to marry her father's right-hand-man, Matthew Swift. An idea Daisy cannot think about without abhorrence. Matthew is just like her mercenary father: He is ambitious, hard working, without any feeling or fancy, and looks like a bag of bones. He certainly will never be a suitable husband for spirited, fanciful, novel-loving Daisy! But she hasn't seen him in years, so Daisy hardly recognizes him when they meet again in England. His outer appearance surely has improved, and, after a spectacular rescue of a goose, Daisy suspects he may not be as cold as she always thought, and she is surprisingly attracted to him. Sometimes he seems to reciprocate her feelings, but he insists, he will never marry her. What is Daisy to make out of his behaviour? Doesn't he care about her at all, or is there something in his past to keep him back? Daisy has to find out, and what better way to test his feelings than to make him jealous? This last book of the wallflower series is as entertaining as the rest of the series. Kleypas creates strong characters, has a story to tell, adds humorous, sensual, exciting, and dangerous incidents and thus succeeds to deliver another well to read romance. I enjoyed it tremendously!
