Tokyo '60s

Murakamis writing style is really captivating so 'Norwegian Wood' is definitely a great introduction to one of many of his works. After finishing the book and remembering certain chapters, you feel nostalgic and emotional. A great story with interesting characters and overall nice atmosphere! I highly recommend it to those who are interested in slow burns and want to experience a deep dive into Toyko in the 1960s.

This is my FAVORITE book! I will NEVER stop recommending it, I am in love with the writing style and all those stylistic devices. The MC is actually pretty boring and has nothing to tell about himself, it's a first person narrative (which I usually hate, because some authors makes it feel so flat and not to my liking) BUT the way Murakami made the MC someone who is observing everything and everyone around himself, is just excellent, it feels like a thrid person narrative, but it's not!!! SOO it's a first person narrative but I never once felt like, some information was missing, the MC always "answered" my questions because he's so well written. The books I've read so far from Murakami, are all wonderful. He's my favorite author. I know he writes weirdly (about women, specifically!!!) but I can't help to love this man's work. So brilliant!! One of the greatest books I've read, you will NOT regret this one, I promise you
