Test Prep Book for CASAS READING GOALS 2 Level B-Forms 923R and 924R This textbook prepares adult learners for the CASAS Reading GOALS 2 Level B, Forms 923R & 924R reading test and for vocational training admission reading tests. It includes exercises that help adult education and workforce programs and their learners meet the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) reading expectations. The reading exercises and answer keys cover CASAS Reading GOALS 2 Level B standards and align with the test competency blueprint. They address key CASAS competencies, including Consumer Economics, Community Resources, Health, and Employment. The activities and practice test also align with the College and Career Readiness (CCR) reading standards. Learners are exposed to various types of reading texts, including narratives, charts, tables, emails, articles, ads, blogs, websites, signs, labels, and forms. Overall, the textbook has seven (7) chapters, including 13 interactive lessons, one practice test, and a review section. It applies Bloom's Taxonomy's Six Levels of Objectives and Competencies (Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating) to engage learners in active and rigorous reading tasks that increase their academic vocabulary, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills. The questions vary from basic to complex to help instructors create reading objectives and activities that emphasize higher-order thinking (levels 4-6). Furthermore, the book teaches learners how to apply the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review) reading framework or method to improve their reading comprehension and recall what they read. The reading activities teach and assess learners' comprehension of the following skills:Identifying main ideas and important details Understanding text features and structure Comparing ideas and passages Determining an author's purpose and point of view Making inferences and drawing conclusions Using the frameworks described above, the textbook helps learners move beyond word recognition to complete reading skills aligned with the CASAS reading test.
