Chart the American Revolution from the archive, not the legend. In the Library of Congress archives lies the paper trail of John Paul Jones - and this volume maps it. Every letter leaves a wake. Compiled by Charles Henry Lincoln, this archival manuscript catalog is a historical documents calendar of the John Paul Jones papers, created to help you locate, cite, and follow the record with confidence. Entries steer you through dates and shelf marks for accurate reference in articles, exhibitions, and local-history work. It serves as a research reference book and historians and researchers guide, pointing to an item-by-item, complete manuscript inventory of correspondence and related papers that illuminate continental navy records and the wider currents of American revolution naval history. For students, genealogists, and readers of the 18th century United States, it opens a direct route into American revolution primary sources without demanding you already know the collection. Whether tracking one officer or surveying policy, this calendar keeps the trail clear. More than bibliography, it is a key to how evidence is organised and preserved: a naval history bibliography in action, showing what survives, where it sits, and how scholarship can begin. For casual readers it offers a glimpse of a celebrated commander in paperwork; for history collectors, a sturdy companion to any Jones shelf. Republished by Alpha Editions in a modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
