The Universalistic Theory of Knowledge and of History
We live in a divided world, marked by unspeakable suffering and courageous resistance. In a time of monsters (Antonio Gramsci) who, at any cost, cling to an imperial rule that destroys all life. Understanding this transient present requires historical thinking that is theoretically and methodologically well-founded. With his universalist theory of knowledge and history, Karam Khella has opened up ways of understanding history beyond Eurocentric historical myths, which in one way or another seek to project imperial white supremacy over peoples, human beings and life in general into history and perpetuate it into the future. Universalist historical thinking allows us to understand a completely different history; it is characterised by a history of resistance of the peoples, a history from below that resists being overwritten. Imperial illusions of superiority are derived not least from history. Universalist epistemology and historical theory are essential for shattering these illusions and writing a history that points to the future, oriented towards unity, universalism and humanism.
