Alan Garner
Alan Garner wurde 1934 in Congleton, Cheshire,
geboren und wuchs in Alderley Edge auf. Er besuchte
das Magdalen College in Oxford. The Weirdstone of
Brisingamen (Der Zauberstein von Brisingamen) begann
er im Alter von 22 Jahren zu schreiben. Seit seinem
Erscheinen gehört dieser Roman mit seiner Fortsetzung
The Moon of Gomrath (Der Mond von Gomrath) zum
klassischen Bestand der angelsächischen Fantasy-
Literatur für junge Leser. 2001 wurde Alan Garner für
seine Verdienste um die englische Literatur mit dem
Order of the British Empire ausgezeichnet. Von ihm
sind im Verlag Freies Geistesleben außerdem
erschienen: Elidor und Eulenzauber.
