Coraline

When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.

But there´s another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.

Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.

„Coraline discovered the door a little while after they moved into the house.“

Although there are some things one could niggle about, that the book is not at all scary or that the emotions of the characters especially Coraline's are not well described, we all should too keep in mind that 'Coraline' is a children's book.

I don't say that only children are allowed to read this book but I'm saying that Neil Gaiman wrote it for his daughters. So the thought behind this book was that kids of 8-12 years of age will mainly read his story.

And if I keep that in mind 'Coraline' is extremely creepy. It also is amazingly written and tells a fantastic story full of bravery and the love of a little girl towards her real family.
Besides all that the journey of Coraline inside this other world is a fantastic story to read. This world has moving toys, talking animals, an evil mother, ghosts, dog-bats and big black buttons.

I also really enjoy the thought of a mouse orchestra and because of that I loved that one scene in the movie that was directed by Henry Selick!
