Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he'll be safe. Simon can't even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can't stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you're the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything. Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story -- but far, far more monsters.
RAINBOW ROWELL lives in Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband and two sons. She's also the author of Landline, Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Attachments.
This is the kind of book you can read again and again because it's cute, funny, heartbreaking and once you know what to look for there is so much foreshadowing.

I own three different editions of this book so that probably tells you everything you need to know.
Everybody who's read Fangirl has the urge to find out more about Simon Snow and his sworn enemy Baz and this book is everything we have been wishing for.
And who am I kidding we all knew how it ended somehow, because we know how Cath is, but this book...Everybody who's read Fangirl has the urge to find out more about Simon Snow and his sworn enemy Baz and this book is everything we have been wishing for.
And who am I kidding we all knew how it ended somehow, because we know how Cath is, but this book was full of so many surprises!
First of all, the setting. Simon's school of course resembles Hogwarts a lot. We actually have a map of his school which is beautiful. The story takes place in todays society with IPhones and god knows what other devices we have and that's actually great because we always see wizards that don't know what electricity is and who's problems would be solved if they had wifi. Carry On has all the phone calls and the messages we have been waiting for for years.
Simon Snow is a typical hero. He has a gorgeous girlfriend, a genius best friend, an arch-enemy and is "the chosen one". His obsession with Baz is ridiculous but also a great way to understand him. Snow is paranoid, always thinking that someone is plotting to kill him.
Penelope is awesome. Seriously. She doesn't care about rules that keep her from talking to her best friend. She is smart and honest. Penelope is a great friend without being pushed into the awkward "I have feelings for you Simon. I've loved since the first time I saw you" zone thatnjust ruins everything. Go platonic friendships!
Baz is... Baz is a spoiled boy, that hates everything. He has a tragic backstory and is the perfect antagonist. Also, HE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT! Baz develops the slowest but is the most interesting character.
The story is a complex construct that you don't get through until the very last moment. No way of knowing stuff before it happens, but in the end everyone is connected with each other and suddenly all your questions are answered.
Carry On is a great book, that I can recommend to anyone who likes magic and dramatic twists.
Off to magic school!

A funny story about magic, action and of course, romance. Very sweetly written, I absolutely adore this book.
