The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Read the cult-favorite coming of age story that takes a sometimes heartbreaking, often hysterical, and always honest look at high school in all its glory. Now a major motion picture starring Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a funny, touching, and haunting modern classic.

The critically acclaimed debut novel from Stephen Chbosky, Perks follows observant "wallflower" Charlie as he charts a course through the strange world between adolescence and adulthood. First dates, family drama, and new friends. Sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Devastating loss, young love, and life on the fringes. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it, Charlie must learn to navigate those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.

A #1 New York Times best seller for more than a year, an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults (2000) and Best Book for Reluctant Readers (2000), and with millions of copies in print, this novel for teen readers (or "wallflowers" of more-advanced age) will make you laugh, cry, and perhaps feel nostalgic for those moments when you, too, tiptoed onto the dance floor of life.
"Ich hasse lesen, aber dieses Buch konnte ich nicht weglegen."
"Wenn es jemals ein besseres Buch gegeben hat, würde ich das gern wissen."(Internet-Rezensionen)

Most recently, he wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed film adaptation of Rent. A book, every young adult should read!

Jacqueline Waibel, Thalia-Buchhandlung Bürs

Charly is really a wallflower. He has no friends, is the best one in english literature and all he does in his free time is reading. Till he meets Sam and Patrick. In this two he finds real friends. Charly watches them graduate and go to College at the same time as he is growing up. He learns a lot from them,: What live is really about and to capture every beautiful moment! I think every young person, which is growing up as an adult should read this book. I also think, that it would be good to read this book in school. It tells you a lot important about bullying, homosexuality, love itself family and friendship. This book was really one of my Highlights this year and it was really beautiful to read!

I love this book so much! It's written in a very nice and easy-readable way. If English is not your first language, you will still not have any problems reading it (at least it was totally okay for me and I'm in the 10th grade). 100% worth buying!

A young man tries to come to grips with the death of his best friend and his own past via some frankly touching efforts to "participate" more in life. An incredible moving story that leaves an enduring impression.

Was für ein tolles Buch. Ich konnte es nicht weglegen. So schön emotional und wunderschön geschrieben. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen. Der Film ist übrigens auch ganz nett :)
